Functional surfaces

Durable up to a ripe old age as one only otherwise knows from mothers-in-law.

With components from manroland manufacturing services you build a solid relationship. Surfaces subjected to particularly heavy loads are made more durable for a long period through thermal spraying which helps keep any machine failures to a minimum. Whatever your future planning looks like, manroland manufacturing services can support you.

Thermal spraying has the most varied fields of application of all surface coating processes. manroland is a certified spraying firm and, besides using surface coating for rollers and cylinders for its own products, offers its know-how as an outsourcing service.

Spraying processes like powder flame spraying, plasma spraying, high-speed flame spraying, and arc spraying are available from our modern equipment operated by highly-qualified staff. For quality testing we have our own laboratory for creating microsections and for hardness and wear testing.

Powder and wet paint varnishing. manroland works in an environment-friendly manner with flexible varnish circulation equipment – for powder and wet paint varnishing with water-based varnish – for large components up to 3000 x 1600 x 800 millimeters and weights up to 600 kilograms. Two washing and painting booths are available for especially large components up to 6000 x 4800 x 3000 millimeters and weights up to 20 tonnes. For pre-treatment we use iron blasting or iron phosphating.

Bronzing and manganese phosphating. The combined bronzing and manganese phosphating unit applies high-grade manganese phosphate and bronze coatings to workpieces up to 3000 x 540 x 630 millimeters and with weights up to 350 kilograms. The 0.01 millimeters thick manganese phosphate layer provides corrosion protection, improves bonding, and guards against friction and wear.

Plasma nitriding increases surface hardness to a depth of up to 0.5 millimeters. The wear resistance or corrosion resistance is improved with low-warpage plasma nitriding or nitrocarburizing in plasma using nitrogen.
