EcoLogic: Energy Efficiency For Web Printing Systems
A more efficient energy management lowers operating costs, improves working conditions, and protects the environment. Ecology and economy are no contradictions: manroland's web offset presses combine environmental protection and economical production.
QuickStart Pro minimizes start-up waste. Among others, the Kieler Nachrichten profit from this system by producing newspapers with only 75 start-up waste copies when re-starting production.
Alternative press concepts, too, help push a more ecological production: XXL models reduce the specific energy consumption per printed copy. Pressedruck Augsburg for instance is claiming a more than 25 percent lower energy consumption compared to its old 4-2 presses which sums up to almost 600,000 kWh per year and means 300 tons of CO2 emissions less.
Integrated regenerative thermal oxidation devices (RTO) make the biggest energy savings possible (97 percent heat exchanger efficiency compared to 65 percent with recuperative technologies). Under many production conditions the device needs no additional energy, because it is a self-sufficient system that uses the energy of the process-connected solvents only.
