The first small press that is twice as large.
A ROLAND 50 is larger than meets the eye. The ROLAND 50 is the first printing press in 36/52 format to be equipped with double-diameter impression cylinders and transferters, which has an important effect on quality. That certain something which makes all the difference.

Markless sheet travel. The double-diameter impression cylinders and transferters (a modern principle derived from the medium and large format presses) provide contact-free sheet travel. This is especially important for thicker materials. The relatively flat sheet travel path also contributes significantly to avoiding marking.
High register stability. The robust construction ensures stability and precision. Effort and material wear are minimized throughout the entire service life.
No color variations. The geometry of the fast-reacting 15-roller inking unit has been taken over from medium- and large-format presses and provides consistent inking over the entire run. Besides that, the three oscillating rollers in the 5-roller damping unit effectively counteract print disturbances.
Precise color control. The highly precise ink slides with 200 linear increments enable color to be accurately matched and exactly reproduced.
Exact infeed register. The feeder with suction feedboard and pneumatic sidelays ensures precise and markless sheet feeding with a display for early, late, or diagonal sheets.
Little tricks make it more attractive.
To please the economists, the ROLAND 50 is extremely resourceful. The height of the delivery has been slightly increased so that a few hundred more sheets can be invoiced between pile changes. The pile height of 700 millimeters is unrivalled in this format class, which is only one of many attractive features.

High delivery. The ROLAND 50 has a maximum delivery pile height of 700 millimeters, which is one of the highest in the 36/52 format class.
Short makeready time. Remote adjustment of lateral, circumferential, and diagonal registers, automated plate loading with EPL™ (ErgonomicPlateLoading), fully-automated blanket washing devices*, automatic inking roller washing devices* and easy-to-clean ink fountains with a special coating (Quick Change Surface) all help reduce makeready time.
Up to color faster. With inking unit presetting, PressManager smart* considerably reduces makeready time. The PPF files from prepress are used to calculate the percentage area coverage per ink slide and inking zone, which is transferred to the press. Inking unit presetting is supplemented by the ColorPilot smart* color measuring and control system, which ensures that the first OK sheet is quickly achieved and consistently high print quality is maintained over the entire run. A motorized rail* simplifies handling.
Fewer waste sheets. permanentDelta* works with a speed difference between the plate damping roller and the plate cylinder that produces a cleansing effect and minimizes the formation of hickeys on the plate.
Highly dependable. TelePresence* ensures maximum dependability. The Remote Diagnosis function enables a service technician to inspect the press from a remote location.

The ROLAND 50 offers production flexibility in the 36/52 format class. The unique substrate range alone, with thicknesses from 0.04 to 0.8 millimeters, enables printing companies to gain new customers and open up new fields of business such as calendar production. Envelope feeder. The printcom Stenz Feeder* makes envelope printing faster and cheaper and the quality is higher as well. After a short changeover time, the ROLAND 50 equipped with the printcom Stenz Feeder prints envelopes from DIN C6 up to B4 at full press speed in the proven manroland print quality.
Special equipment for cardboard*. Equipping the press with CardboardWheels prevents sheets slapping against the transferters. Cardboard equipment also includes a cover frame on the feedboard and sheet rear edge guides above the impression cylinders.
Antistatic equipment. ROLAND SelectAntistatic* efficiently eliminates static from difficult paper or foil so that the sheets travel through the press without any problems.
More than CMYK. Five or six printing units permit Value Added Printing through inline finishing. Equipment for coating*, scoring*, die-cutting* and perforating* is available – all inline.
Simple operation. The integrated PressPilot offers a wide range of functions: RCI remote ink slide control, ink presetting via JobCard or PressManager smart*, a display in different languages, remote adjustment for circumferential and lateral register +/- 1.5 millimeters, and remote adjustment for diagonal register +/- 0.3 millimeters.
