ROLAND 900, XXL
In large-format every millimeter counts.
Large-format printing is a growing market segment with a bright future. For example, compared with the 3B format, the 7B format provides an increase from 16 to 40 DIN A4 pages. It goes further with a large 60 millimeter step. The unique 7B plus format offers 20 percent more multiple-up images than the 7B format and three times more than the 3B format. Format 8 can accommodate 64 DIN A4 pages on a sheet. Profitability potential right in line with our “Value Added Printing” strategy.

The highly productive large-format. With the four formats 7 (1,120 x 1,620 millimeters), 7B (1,200 x 1,620 millimeters), 7B plus (1,260 x 1,620 millimeters) and 8 (1,300 x 1,850 millimeters) the ROLAND 900, XXL can meet all economic challenges in large-format sheetfed offset printing.
Up to 12,000 sheets per hour* in format 8. With 12,000 sheets per hour*, the format 8 ROLAND 900, XXL achieves the highest productivity. The format 7B plus ROLAND 900, XXL with its maximum speed of 13,000 sheets per hour offers a previously unknown level of productivity, too.
QuickChange features. With the QuickChange Coating system*, every coating module has two hose and pump systems and two chambered doctor blades. This enables coating changeovers from UV to dispersion coating, for example, to be done faster than ever before. In addition, the multipurpose clamping system QuickChange Clamp* reduces the time needed for changing to different types of coating form materials by up to 50 percent. Similar time savings are provided by QuickChange Surface: the ink-repelling coating of the ink foun tain surfaces dramatically reduces the time needed for cleaning the ink fountain when chang ing inks.
Full-automated plate change (APL™)*. This feature reduces the operators’ workload and makes job change-over much faster.

Printing is a hard business but the ROLAND 900, XXL compensates for this.
The ROLAND 900, XXL responds to permanently increasing competitive pressure with a substrate versatility that ranges from the thinnest paper to the thickest carton. Thanks to the relatively flat sheet travel path, even stiff substrates can be printed safely and in high quality.

Highly versatile. The ROLAND 900, XXL has been a proven performer for a wide variety of applications over many years, from commercial printing through publications and book print ing right up to packing printing, as well as niche applications such as printing of displays, corrugated board, or foils.
Finishing options. The ROLAND InlineSlitter* slits the sheets in half before they reach the delivery. For example, format 8 sheets with 64 pages can be slit in the middle and then go through the folding units as half sheets.
Inline coating for application flexibility. The ROLAND 900, XXL can be equipped with a single (ROLAND InlineCoater)* or double coating module*. The extremely high precision of the chambered doctor blade system ensures exact dosage and uniform quality of the coating layer. The double coating version permits a double hit of dispersion coating or a combination of printing with conventional inks and then applying a water-based primer and UV coating.
One inking unit, two ink flow variants. With the DualFlow inking unit, manroland is the only sheetfed offset press manufacturer to offer a choice of two ink flows in one printing unit. This enables the inking unit to be matched to the specific requirements of each subject.

Precision par excellence. We are satisfied with nothing less.
The ROLAND 900, XXL printing modules are linked in the highest precision. During installation any backlash in the impression cylinder and transferter gears is eliminated right down to the last micrometer – for permanently optimal sheet transfer from one printing unit to the next.

Highly precise register. Sturdy press construction, the combination of premium-quality drive gears and hydro-damping, plus a longitudinal shaft for presses with five or more printing units, prevent play in the gear teeth which ensures outstanding printing quality.
Optimal color consistency. The computer-aided design of the inking units results in high storage capacity and fast reaction to setting changes. The ink flow can also be changed from normal to front-heavy to meet the requirements of different subjects.
Gentle sheet transport. The double-diameter impression cylinders and transferters provide a relatively flat sheet travel path. This design advantage is supplemented by the AirGlide delivery with a low-angle sheet ascent and a long sheet stabilization track.
Straight-edged delivery stacks. Straight-edged delivery stacks are a prerequisite if the job is to move on to the finishing operations without delay. This is ensured by the combination of sheet brakes and take-off grippers.
Automatic ink density control. With ROLAND InlineColorPilot*, the ROLAND 900, XXL is the only sheetfed press to have a fully automatic system to ensure consistent color. Even the slightest color variations are immediately recognized and automatically corrected.
